Schmale is part of a federally funded research and development partnership for ??Industry 4.0

Schmale Maschinenbau is part of a 3-year development partnership, including the TU Chemnitz and the private university HHL Leipzig. The goal is to advance the integration of industrial production and information technology with a digital twin of each production line. The "Co-TWIN" program, which was launched in the spring of 2019, will be funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for a period of three years with 2.8 million euros.

Research focus is the software development for practical application and the connection to the machine technology. As a practical development partner from the economy, Schmale Maschinenbau provides the appropriate interfaces for the machines and controls. During the project, Schmale will implement and evaluate concrete operational scenarios for the digital twin at several plants.
