Flattening and punching


Flatening and punching of wire, pipe or strip is done automatically on the plants of Schmale Maschinenbau GmbH in individual stations with servo-electric presses. Several forming operations can be installed simultaneously or successively on our X2000NC wire bending machines as well as on our special machines for strip processing. In the pictures you can see some typical bent parts with flattening and punching.

Flattening and punching

Mechanical flattening and punching comprises the automatic pressing of metal parts into the desired form and then punching holes into them. Modern stamping and bending machines are capable of carrying out this work process using low levels of energy and in any quantity desired. Depending on the requirements placed on the components, solid wires, pipes or strips can be flattened and punched. Components produced through flattening and punching are used in an extremely wide range of applications, especially because their applications can be expanded even further by the use of other processes in the product range. It is extremely important for modern production machines to be flexible and capable of combining flattening and punching with other technologies. The modular design of forming machines such as those built by Schmale makes them suitable for combining numerous different processes.

Efficient flattening and punching with machines and drives from Schmale

Schmale Maschinenbau GmbH is the ideal partner for the procurement of a new flattening and punching machine or for a general overhaul of an existing machine that has already been in operation for a long period of time. If Schmale is tasked with designing and building a completely new machine, the customer will receive their own customized and state-of-the-art production solution. However, retrofitting and refurbishing an already existing machine can also deliver a substantial improvement in performance for flattening and punching processes. For example, a flattening and punching machine fitted with improved control technology by Schmale can even achieve the performance levels of a new machine. Whether this significantly cheaper solution – in comparison to a new machine – is advisable will be evaluated on-site by a team of experts from Schmale. A tried-and-tested flattening and punching machine can thus continue to be operated with an increased level of efficiency and economy after it has been overhauled by Schmale. Compatibility with new spare parts is also guaranteed by this type of retrofitting measure. Other advantages include easier operation and a significant increase in safety standards.
