Wire swaging / pipe swaging
The swaging of wire or pipe is done automatically on the plants of Schmale Maschinenbau GmbH in individual stations with servo-electric swaging presses. Among other things, swaging presses in our wire bending machines of the type X2000NC or Speedmax, but also in our tube bending machines of the same type as well as in our special machines. A typical application for the bending and swaging of wire or pipe in the automotive sector are our systems for the production of exhaust mounts.
As one of the leading manufacturers of modular, automated systems for the forming of wire, pipe and strip, we combine and install aggregates for all industrial forming processes on one machine.

Industrial swaging - advantages and technological development
Because of its positive effects on the microstructure, loading capacity and safety of the component, swaging is a frequently used method in forming technology. A further advantage when compressing wire and tube lies in the complete utilization of the material used. There is no surplus material and thus waste, which must be recycled. In addition, even complex and sophisticated geometries can be realized by swaging with the utmost precision. Modern production machines are able to produce components by upsetting in high volumes and widths of variation. For the production of complex components, swaging is often combined with other methods. Modern machines connect the required processes serially and thus considerably speed up the production process. This makes the upsetting of components interesting for a number of industries. Wherever high safety requirements must be accompanied by cost-effective production, swaging is a frequently chosen method.
Efficient and flexible swaging with technology from Schmale
The more individually a production plant is tailored to a required end product, the faster and more efficiently the production process runs. At the same time, producers of bent parts are encouraged to make their production options flexible and expandable. The interaction of different technologies such as swaging, bending, flattening and punching in one machine has become the standard for modern production equipment, as manufactured by Schmale. In addition, Schmale equipment offers maximum flexibility thanks to its modular design. Short-term changes in the production situation can be implemented quickly and efficiently. Schmale production facilities offer decisive advantages in swaging and in all other technologies. The manufacturing process becomes more cost effective and energy efficient overall. With a power requirement of only approx. 30 kW, the corresponding module from Schmale, for example, produces 32 complex components per minute. Also in terms of safety and ease of upsetting, Schmale equipment is superior to other systems. The in-house control software allows for easy and quick operation and programming of the system after a short training period. Here, too, great value was placed on expandability of the operating concept.
